The Generic Pixel App allows you to deploy simple analytics pixels as an Image, Script tag, or an Iframe. There are two type of the app available. The Generic Pixel and the Generic Pixel (Multiple), for a single pixel tag and for multple pixel tags, respectively.
The Generic Pixel tag, the Ensighten Apps, and Vendor Tags are available through our Apps Library. The App Library is where you start to create your tag.
Periodically, new Apps will be released to the Apps section.
You will need appropriate permissions to access the Apps Library. Reach out to your Manage Admin if you don't see this or any other App that you are looking for.
Steps to Configure the Generic Pixel Tag
This example will walk you through the single pixel implementation of the Generic Pixel App.
Step 1: Configure the App
Enter the requested information to configure the App. Depending on which App, you may need to enter account information or a URL.
Step 2: Choose Conditions
Select the Condition you want to apply to this deployment. By default, all deployments are Global. You can create a Condition from here if you don't have a Condition already created.
Step 3: Name Deployment
In this section, you will be prompted to name the deployment. This is also where you will select which space you want this deployment to be in.
The "Advanced options" section in this tab will allow you to select a dependency for this deployment and the execution time for the deployment. The available options for Execution Time are Immediate, After Elements Exist and After All Elements Have Downloaded.
Dependency: Selecting a deployment dependency will cause the current deployment to execute only after the deployment entered as a dependency is executed.
Execution Time: An execution time must be selected for every deployment. The default option is to execute immediately. This is an explanation of when each option causes the deployment to run:
- Immediate: Executes the deployment as soon as the code is ready to run.
- After Elements Exist: Waits to execute the deployment until the DOM has parsed.
- After Elements are Downloaded: Waits to execute until all elements on the page have finished downloading (text, images, etc.)
Step 4: Review & Save
The last step is to review all the information entered in the previous steps. If you need to make any edits, click the "Previous" button to go back to a tab to make edits.
Once you're satisfied with all the information entered, click the "Save" button. Your deployment will be saved and disabled. You will need to go into the "Deployments" section to enable, commit and publish the deployment.
Once your new tag is saved and committed, you will be able to test its deployment using nexus-test. You will need to publish to deploy your tag to the Space associated to your tag.
