There are two numbers associated with each deployment in an account, one is the deployment ID and the other is the rule ID. This article explains the significance of each ID.
The tag ID (formally known as deployment ID) is a number assigned to a tag. This ID does not change and can be viewed as the numerical assigned identity of the tag. When a tag is merged to a different space, the tag ID carries over with the tag in the new space.
Finding the Tag ID
To find the tag ID:
- Find the tag and hover over its Actions to click on View Tag Details.
- In the View Tag Details panel, the tag ID is listed as the "ID".
The rule ID for a tag changes each time the deployment is edited. The changes occur because the rule ID is used to identify the version of the tag. When a tag is merged to a different space, the rule ID does not carry over.
Finding the Rule ID
To find the rule ID:
- In the same View Tag Details panel, find the Generated Code panel
- The rule ID will be in the comment line 1 of the tag code
